“This is non revenue water. I have done a full study on it,” he told the House earlier during question hour while replying to a postponed starred question on water problems, adding that he was concentrating on five areas and had selected teams to get to the bottom of the situation.
He said that the teams would be looking at the situation, planning and a pilot project were on for Selaulim, Opa and Assanora.
“If these teams work then we will be saving 10 % of the water. And apart from this increasing the capacity of the plants is going on side by side,” he said.
The minister also said that Porvorim water shortage two to three MLD, could be sorted out if water shortage is controlled.
Intervening in the exchange, chief minister said that Rs 70 crore had been spent and a project to supply 30 MLD of water was almost ready.
The project would take care of irrigation and the industrial estate, Verna, Sancoale and Loutolim. 10 MLD would be for human consumption, 10 MLD for Zuari, he said.
During demands MLAs called for various measures including replacement of pipe lines, etc for supplying adequate water.
