“The government has taken a serious view of the strike… and has decided that all employees who participate in this illegal strike or found not discharging their assigned duties during the strike period, shall be treated as absent. The principle of “no work no pay” will be invoked in all such cases of unauthorized absence and the action will be taken as per Rules,” it says.
The government has urged all employees to desist from joining the strike, perform their official duties and not to be misled by the Association that would affect the smooth functioning of the government also as the Goa Legislative Assembly session is underway.
Meanwhile, All Goa Government Employees Union has advised the employees not to participate in the strike called on Monday. “This organization feels that the issue raised by the said organization (GGEA) did not place the facts and justification required under the rule for settlement. The Association made it a complicated issue and government cannot solve it,” a press release issued by the General Secretary Uday Chari says.
GGEA is agitating seeking parity in the pay scales to various sections of the Government employees on unsustainable grounds of providing similar benefits to other employees where parity of pay scale was given.
GGEA has objected giving parity to few categories of employees and requested that other categories also get such benefits. Government, to this has clarified that Goa is one few States in country to accept the VIth pay recommendations in toto without going into integrity of financial implications and keeping in view the welfare of its employees. “By way of implementation of VIth pay recommendations the State has shouldered enormous financial burden including subsequent DA hikes, pension liabilities and arrears, etc,” the government press note says.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had earlier warned of stern action against those employees who skip work, during the Assembly session.
