MARGAO: Goa Police will finally have a full strength of personnel at the position of Superintendent of Police (SP) as the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) has recommended the promotion of 10 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) to the position of SP.

The decision was taken at the Departmental Promotion Committee meeting held on Friday, chaired by GPSC Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha and had Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh and IAS Subash Chandra as members.
It may be recalled that out of the 17 posts of SP, nine posts were vacant and with these promotions all the positions of SPs which were vacant for a while will be filled.
To be eligible for promotion to the rank of an SP, a DySP should have completed six years of regular service, passed a departmental examination and undergone training for 45 days. These officers have undergone mandatory training at the Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development recently and the requirement of departmental examination was exempted by the government with the approval of the Commission.
The 10 officers to be promoted are Maria Monserrate, Gurudas Gawade (ST), Edwin Colaco (ST), Nelson Albuquerque, Sucheta Dessai, Ezilda D’Souza, Sunit Sawant, Rajendra Dessai, Dharmesh Angle and Kiran Poduval.
The GPSC further lifted the probation period of officials in the Water Resources Department and also promoted one official to the position of Principal in the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
