VASCO: Passengers had to bear the brunt of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s grand arrival at Dabolim airport on Wednesday evening.
The passengers who had arrived on Wednesday evening had to walk with their baggage and children to the old airport terminal, as coaches and taxis were not allowed to enter the arrival bay as the area was set for Parrikar to address BJP supporters.
Even the old and sick had to be taken on wheel chairs from old airport terminal building to the arrival lounge, as the police had cordoned off the area due to the presence of large number of BJP workers and others.
Some domestic tourists, who had to walk with their children and luggage up to the old airport building, said it was difficult to manage both the children and luggage and drag it to almost 300 metres. “The organisers should have used an alternate site instead of organising the meeting at the airport, putting everyone to a great hardship,” said a tourist.
