Grant more time to submit suggestions on Waste Bylaws: SCM

MARGAO: The Shadow Council for Margao (SCM) on Saturday urged the Urban Development Department to grant more time to submit objections and suggestions to the Model Bylaws of Solid Waste Management.

The last date for filing objections and suggestions which is fixed for May 12 should be extended further so as to facilitate the general public to file their objections/suggestions.

“As the publication has come during the lockdown period on April 28, it could not be assessed by the general public, as such deference has to be considered,” Savio Coutinho stated.

“Since 2016 we have been complaining that sanitation fees are collected only from the legally assessed premises, which are also paying house tax in addition,” said the SCM.
