Green signal again for water sports activities with riders

Circular authorising resumption of water sports activities came today evening; Operators directed to strictly adhere to weather warnings

TEAM HERALD
MARGAO: After two days of suspension, water sports activities resumed along the state’s coast on Friday with deputy Captain of Ports, Capt Premlal A Sirsaikar giving the green signal, subject to “fair weather” and “calm sea” conditions.
The circular authorising resumption of water sports activities came this evening after Capt Premlal along with the Captain of Ports calling upon the operators to strictly adhere to weather warnings from any authority concerned.
Sources in the know said that Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva took up cudgels for the water sports operators with the government by contending that the entire water sports fraternity should not be punished in view of the Cananguinim accident. Caitu is believed to have told the government that the suspension of the operations have hit the water sports activity badly, further contending that all issues relating to the activity can be discussed after the return of the Chief Minister. Following the development, water sports operators made a brisk business at the Colva beach this evening with tourists literally making a beeline to take a joy ride in the boats and jets skis. In fact, the Colva beach played host to a large number of domestic tourists, who stood in a queue outside
the make shift office of
the water sports operators for a joy ride.
