Greens alarmed as another dead porpoise found on Cavelossim beach

MARGAO: Another lifeless, finless porpoise washed ashore on Cavelossim beach on Wednesday, marking another unfortunate incident in the alarming trend of dolphin strandings along Goa’s coastline. This occurrence has prompted wildlife activists to voice concerns over the government’s inaction regarding the stranding data and rising number of such cases.

They have urged authorities to raise awareness and come up with a comprehensive action plan to prevent further loss of these aquatic mammals’ lives. The finless porpoise, a species of small-toothed whale, is particularly vulnerable due to its coastal habitat and susceptibility to human activities such as pollution, entanglement in fishing nets, and habitat degradation.
