PANJIM: A day after Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar announced that Goa would be the first State to go cashless, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation held workshops to sensitize contractors and consultants on going cashless.
The State government has nominated GSIDC, Public Works Department, Water Resources and Electricity Department to facilitate the shift towards a cashless working environment.
To that end, GSIDC, in association with HDFC Bank and SBI, conducted a workshop to raise awareness on various modules and methods available to move towards electronic transactions.
The workshop was held to sensitise GSIDC staff, work contractors and consultants associated with GSIDC towards making daily domestic and commercial transactions cashless.
The workshop covered topics of transacting online and via mobile phones through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) application, security measures and implementation processes.
The workshop aimed to encourage consultants and contractors to shift over to electronic payments to sub-contractors and labourers using more convenient modes of electronic transfers.
