PANJIM: Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has issued notices to operators of eight restaurants, including some multinational outlets in Margao, asking them show cause as to why their outlets should not be shut for operating without its consent.
As per the notices issued by the board, the eight restaurants which include KFC, Pizza Hut, Dominos Pizza, Tato’s Fine Dining, Hotel Anugraha, Gokul Veg Restaurant, Mircho Go multi cuisine restaurant and Navtara Restaurant, all in Margao, were found to be functioning without obtaining consent to operate as required as per section 25/26 of Water (Prevention and Control) Act 1981.
According to the rules, operation of units without obtaining consent to operate constitutes an offence under the provision of Water and Air Acts.
The board stated that failure to comply with the notice will compel it to initiate legal action against the restaurants as per the provisions of the Water Act and Air Act which may include issue of directions for closure of the units without further notice.
