GSPCB to move into new building this year-end

PANJIM: Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) is expected to start functioning from its new premises at Saligao – a green building with solar panels – by the end of this year.

PANJIM: Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) is expected to start functioning from its new premises at Saligao – a green building with solar panels – by the end of this year. 
The foundation stone for the building was laid in January last year and was expected to be completed by December 2016. However, the Board said the building, which will include its office as well as a state-of-the art laboratory, is likely to be ready this November end. 
“The RCC structure of the building is completed up to roof level. At present fabrication work of structural rood, plastering, flooring and electrical works are under progress,” a Board official said. 
Built in an area measuring 4803 sq mtrs it has a ground plus four floors. The ground floor has a double height porch, reception, IT Department, sample receiving station, canteen and rest rooms for staff.  It also has a large atrium of 427 sq mtr with a transparent roof. 
The first floor has microbiology laboratories, instrument laboratories, work stations for junior, senior lab assistant, scientific assistants and research and development. The second floor has a seminar hall with capacity of 140 persons, wet labs and work station for junior, senior lab assistants and scientific assistants meeting room. The third floor has the chairman’s chamber, member secretary chamber, conference room, library, accounts department, legal department and cabins for head of departments. 
The land was allotted by the State government to the Board on lease period of 99 years in June 2014. The project is been executed by Kalyani Global Engineering Pvt Ltd.
