Following recommendations from the University Grants Commission (UGC), Goa University has announced that the academic year 2020-21 will begin from August 1, for current students. In case of newly-admitted students, the decision will be taken subsequently.
The summer vacation has been extended up to May 31, while the current academic term has been extended up to July 31.

A meeting of the principals of all GU affiliated colleges was convened by the Vice-Chancellor along with University officers on April 30 through video conferencing.
After going through the UGC guidelines and discussions on the conduct of the year-end examination for various programmes, the University decided that all semester-end examinations for the current semester will commence from July 1 onwards.
The repeat or supplementary examinations for first year, second year and third year will be held from June 1 onwards.
The shortfall of attendance of students will be condoned, and attendance will not be an eligibility criterion for appearing for the examination, the University informed colleges.
