GU academic year to begin from July 16

PANJIM: With the examinations of its undergraduate programmes being scheduled from June 1 onwards in view of ongoing lockdown, the new academic term 2020-21 of Goa University will now begin from July 16.

Goa University has revised its academic terms for all the programmes offered by them and its affiliated colleges. A circular in this regard was issued by Registrar Y V Reddy. 

The circular issued to Dean of Schools, Heads of University Technical departments, Principals of Colleges, states that in view of the ongoing lockdown to combat the COVID-19, it has been decided to revise the academic terms of all programmes offered at the University and affiliated colleges for the current academic term. 

The summer vacation will be from April 15 to May 31, with extension of second term upto July 15. 

The examinations will commence from June 1 onwards; and the new academic year from July 16.

“It is further informed that in view of the prevailing situation, as decided during the meeting on March 15, the attendance requirement of students for eligibility to answer the examination is not to be insisted upon,” the circular stated.
