Led by sarpanch Sonia Dias, the gram sabha resolved not to allow Railway Ministry to start doubling of railway track till it fulfilled the demand of railway over bridge or loop subway at the Guirdolim-Chandor crossing wherein students and office goers are left stranded for hours.
Despite, MLA Rajan Naik and MP Narendra Sawaikar’s assurances, nothing has been done till date.
The agitated gram sabha members have resolved against allowing the Railway Ministry to go ahead with doubling track project.
“Since several years we are suffering but our demands have not been met by the Railways as they have failed to construct a railway overbridge at the crossing,” the members said adding that they would allow the double track only after the bridge is constructed.
