MAPUSA: The Guirim gram sabha on Sunday witnessed ruckus when ex-sarpanch and sitting Panch Fondu Naik alleged that the minutes of the gram sabha are not being written down according to the proceedings of the meeting.
Fondu claimed that the secretary writes down minutes of the meeting roughly and later manipulates the same. Following this, the gram sabha members demanded that the minutes of the meeting be written down simultaneously when the gram sabha progresses.
Further when Fondu alleged that recently, the secretary conducted a site inspection without the sarpanch and the local panch, a heated argument ensued between him and the sarpanch Vaishali, turning the situation tense. Fondu further alleged that instead of the sarpanch, her husband was present for the site inspection and that such inspection is invalid.
Meanwhile, the issue of sudden increase in garbage fees from Rs 365 to Rs 1500 aggravated the situation.
The locals argued that when there is no proper garbage collection in the village and when the panchayat does not collect certain type of garbage, increasing the fees was unacceptable.
Raising the issue of LED lights, the villagers complained that while other villages have already installed LED streetlights, no LED light is seen anywhere in Guirim.
Addressing the complaint, deputy sarpanch Sunny Nanodkar said that LED lights were out of stock due to which their installation was pending.
