PANJIM: Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have extended greetings to the teaching fraternity on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
Governor in his message said “This day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was one of the greatest teachers of our country, besides being an eminent philosopher, educationist par excellence and profound humanist. He was also a towering statesman having served as the President and Vice President of our country. From ancient times, teaching has always been held in high esteem in our country and even today this profession continues to be regarded as a noble one.”
In his message, the Chief Minister said “It is an auspicious day and a day for us to pay tributes to and celebrate the sacrifices and commitment of our teachers. A teacher’s influence is forever imprinted in every student and it manifests itself throughout their lives. Indeed, we should be ever grateful to our teachers for providing academic and emotional guidance.”
He further said, “The Education sector has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic for almost two years and it is still struggling to recover. This year, the physical classes have begun as usual. However, I am very encouraged to see teachers adopt the new norms of imparting online education so that the academic life of the student does not suffer.”
