The Governor of Goa Satya Pal Malik and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant extended their warm greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of Goa’s Statehood Day.
In his message, the Governor said, “May 30 is the result of the struggle by the Goans, for protecting their separate identity as Goans and therefore this day is of historic importance. Today, we look back with great satisfaction at the achievements made by the State in different fields. Goa has achieved remarkable progress over the last few decades, particularly in core sectors. Significant headway has been made in the fields of education, healthcare, agriculture, tourism and development of infrastructure. Goa has successfully faced the challenges in the field of development with courage and determination, with a rational outlook and commitment to a value system anchored on work ethics and quest for excellence. The various developmental projects and programmes that are being initiated and implemented by the State are a clear and real indication that Goa is on the move to achieve great progress.” The Chief Minister, in his message, said that May 30th is a very a significant milestone in the glorious history of Goa, as it was on this day in 1987, Goa became a full-fledged State of the Indian Union. “Attainment of Statehood symbolized the resolve and zeal of Goans to shoulder higher levels of political responsibility to further the cause of accelerated socio-economic development and cultural advancement. Together, let us work towards a better and prosperous Goa,” the CM added.
