PANJIM: 1100 electors will elect the president of the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress committee on Sunday with the Youth Congress executive committee elections scheduled from 8 am to 3 pm. Counting will be held on August 5.
Valanka Alemao, against whom a complaint was filed and later rejected by FAME which is overseeing the Youth Congress elections is the front runner. But she is closely challenged by Xavier Fialho and Varad Mardolkar.
The contest is likely to be a close fight and pundits say that surprises cannot be ruled out even at the last moment.Outgoing president Pratima Coutinho is not contesting the elections this year.
Fialho is the current vice president while Valanka was debarred from contesting the previous elections.
