PANJIM: Leader of the Opposition Michael Lobo on Friday said that he was yet to receive any show cause notice by the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department over alleged illegalities of two hotels at Baga owned by him.
When asked whether he has received show cause notice from the TCP to his two hotels situated at Baga for alleged illegalities, Lobo said, “I am yet to receive any show cause notice. It is being circulated through media. When I get the notice I will reply to it.”
Lobo said that he had built the hotel in 2007 much before he was elected as MLA.
He said that he had only erected a shed to keep deck beds and umbrellas during monsoon. Even starred hotels erect such sheds during monsoon.
“If the government finds my shed is illegal, I will remove it,” he said adding that he will keep his deck beds to the vagaries of monsoon.
Alleging irregularities, TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane had on Thursday said that show cause notices will be issued to the Nazri Hotel and Baga Deck owned by Lobo at Baga.
Rane had also asserted that he will ensure that both the hotels are demolished during his tenure as TCP Minister.
Reacting to Rane’s statement that he does not know Michael, the Opposition Leader said, “That is his style of working, not our style. That is not our culture. I don’t want to cast aspersions. We go by facts.”
