PANJIM: High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the State government to submit a plan and schedule for repairing of the Hospicio Hospital building at Margao which had caught fire recently.
The High Court also has directed the State to search for an appropriate alternate place to temporarily shift dialysis unit from the hospital, to complete the repair work of the dilapidated building.
The State contended that the building has been declared dangerous by the authorities, but it cannot be repaired until petitioner Dr R Venkatesh vacates the dialysis unit area.
Adjourning the hearing for two weeks, High Court has directed Goa government to submit a concrete plan and a time table for repairing the building.
Last Wednesday, the High Court granted permission to Dr Venkatesh run the unit with its present arrangement. It was at the dialysis unit that fire broke out last month. Following which, power was disconnected to the building that housed the unit.
However, Dr Venkatesh restarted the unit using a transformer for a day and then by resorting to an electricity line from a nearby reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment plant.
