PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Thursday dismissed the review application filed by three shop owners, who had constructed shops on Serula Comunidade land, which is entangled in a legal battle over allegations of a massive scam.
The petitioners had pleaded with the High Court to review its order on the main petition directing the authorities to convert the encroached land to its original form. Tourism minister Dilip Parulekar and his brother Pramod are amongst those who own shops on the land.
Parulekar, whose name cropped up for his part in the land grab case, however, earlier said he first took the plot with survey number 376/6 in Soccoro village in the year 1990 on lease. As per records of the village panchayat, the facts are contradictory.
As per the Crime Branch investigation, from 20 sq mtrs of the shade (the areas leased out to Parulekar), the space has extended to 599 sq mtrs.
Both, he and his brother are also accused of allegedly illegally occupying property in survey numbers 379, 379/1, 380 and 389/1.
