The Goa Foundation has filed a petition in the High Court of
Bombay at Goa regarding LED fishing in Goan waters despite the ban on such
fishing. The High Court has summoned the officers of the Fisheries Dept and the
Coast Guard to appear before it on Wednesday. Herald had done a number of
stories on illegal LED fishing, especially in South Goa and exposed how the
Coastal Police is totally ineffective in the absence of maintenance of speed
boats etc.
