MARGAO: Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai paid a courtesy visit to Churchill Alemao at his Navelim office before the former PWD Minister announced his decision to contest the Lok Sabha election as an independent.
Vijai was huddled with Churchill for some time and tried to soothe ruffled feathers in the Alemao camp. The independent MLA, who is believed to have worked overtime to get the Congress ticket for Reginaldo, made Churchill’s close aides to see reason and not take any hasty decision.
Vijai later told the media that Churchill should respect public sentiment before taking any decision. “Churchill is my old friend. He is a big-hearted and sentimental man. He is hurt and has the habit of reacting instantly. I have just paid a courtesy visit to him to tell him that public sentiments should be respected. Even his own workers feel the need to maintain unity”, Vijai said.
