A Delhi Judicial Services officer was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his Safdarjung residence, police said Saturday, even as family members alleged harassment and questioned the sequence of events leading to his death.
The deceased, Aman Kumar Sharma (30), is suspected to have died by suicide. Preliminary inquiry indicates death by hanging, police said.
A PCR call was made by his brother-in-law, following which police reached the spot and initiated inquest proceedings. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
“No foul play has been established so far. However, all angles are being examined,” a senior police officer said.
Family members claimed Sharma had been under distress and had complained of harassment in recent weeks. According to relatives, he spoke to his father on the night of the incident and expressed that he was “very troubled.”
The family also alleged that Sharma had an argument with his wife, who is also a judicial officer, shortly before the incident. They claimed raised voices were heard before the situation went silent.
He was later found unresponsive inside the residence and taken to hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Police said statements of those present are being recorded. Further investigation is underway.
