MARGAO: If probe by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) into the Cuncolim Civic body’s accounts has hit a block, investigations by the Cuncolim police and the ACB into the controversial health club construction at Madicotto-Cuncolim have also failed to make any headway.
Ask the Cuncolim police, which had registered a case against unknown persons for carrying construction on the health club on the eve of the 2012 Assembly polls for violation of election code of conduct, and the men-in-uniform are quick to reply that they are awaiting a report of investigations conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
ACB officials, on the other hand, maintain that the agency is awaiting the Cuncolim police to cap their investigations, so that the findings give an insight into the construction activity in violation of the election code of conduct.
With both the agencies waiting for each other for completion of the probe into the health club construction without a work order, investigations have indeed hit a dead end. An ACB official said that the file relating to the health club construction was submitted to the agency only a few months ago, while pointing out that the Cuncolim police had been investigating into the case since day one.
