PANJIM: Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) has confirmed that 126 claims have been approved under the DDSSY health insurance scheme across 14 hospitals, amounting to Rs 47 lakh worth of treatment.
Addressing the media, GEL Chairman Dattaprasad Naik said it is a record for registration for any scheme in Goa and the team is on target to register two lakh families by September end and to issuing two lakh cards by October end.
“Canacona constituency has topped with 7,902 in terms of receiving applications and as of date 5,112 cards have been issued there, but Salcete has been seeing very slow response,” Naik said
He said GMC has topped with 35 patients, who have been admitted and have been covered under the scheme, followed by Manipal Hospital with 31 patients and Apollo Hospital with 19 patients.
In order to facilitate registration, 17 kendras have been setup across all talukas and GEL conducted 238 camps in villages.
He said that GEL has come up with express registration, by which a patient who has been admitted in any of the 14 empanelled hospitals can get a health insurance card within two hours, once GEL receives the application.
Naik added that GEL has been successful in accepting insurance card registration through the mobile unit, which has been set up for people who are bedridden. The unit has also started registering people from South Goa. To date 3,15,000 forms have been distributed and 1,38,700 cards have been printed. A total of 1,04,041 insurance cards have been issued.
