Health Minister orders notices to Health Director, Officer

On surprise visit to Panjim UHC finds medicines for diabetic patients in short supply

PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday ordered that a show cause notice be issued to the Health Director as well as Health Officer of Panjim Urban Health Centre for shortage of medicines at the centre.
The note to the Health Secretary was moved by Rane after he paid a surprise visit to the Urban Health Centre  on Tuesday morning and medicines were found in short supply.
Rane said, “In view of short supply of the medicines, the show cause notices would be issued to Director of Health Services, Dr Sanjiv Dalvi and Health Officer of Panaji Urban Health Centre, Dr Pritam Naik seeking explanation.”
The Health Minister on his visit to the Urban Health Centre  interacted with the patients and doctors and said, “I was surprised that the diabetic medicines were in total short supply putting the patients to hardship,” he stated.
Stating that an insensitive attitude will not be tolerated, Rane said, “I have already moved a note to Secretary Health to issue show cause notice to Dalvi and Naik. Such insensitive attitude of the authorities and doctors will not be tolerated by the administration.” He said that the supply of the medicines would be normalised within 48 hours.
In the note, Rane has banned the Health Director from going outside the State for the next three months till the Urban Health Centres and PHCs are functioning well.
