MARGAO, MARCH 19
Hearing of the petition filed by Calvert Gonsalves challenging the affidavit filed by Benaulim MLA and Tourism Minister, Mickky Pacheco was adjourned to March 30.
Calvert was present in the court of Returning Officer for the Benaulim Assembly constituency Sanjeev Desai on Friday, while Pacheco was represented by his duly authorized person.
Calvert told Herald after the hearing that he had filed a complaint since the Benaulim MLA had filed contradictory affidavit vis-à-vis his educational qualifications.
He claimed that Mickky had stated in his affidavit filed the 2005 by-polls that he had passed XII Std, adding that the affidavit filed in the 2007 Assembly polls stated that he has passed VI Std. “I have challenged the affidavit as the MLA has allegedly lied on oath since he has neither passed XII std or VI Std”, he added.
Calvert disclosed plans to decide on his next course of action depending on the orders by the Returning Officer on his complaint.
