PONDA/VALPOI: Traffic came to a standstill on Dhavlim-Farmagudi Highway for few hours after a landslide, on Friday.
The landslide toppled some trees which fell on an electric pole leading to power disruption in the area. The electricity department restored power supply later.
In another incident at Kavlem, a coconut tree collapsed on electric lines. Though the wires did not snap, the electric pole broke leading to power cut for two days.
Meanwhile, the residents of Kavlem, Adpoi, Durbhat and Talavlim are angry at the frequent power failure in their area. The power department officials said that rise in population has led to more consumption of electricity which causes more load on transformers which in turn leads to power failures.
Meanwhile, a landslide at Chorla Ghat led to traffic jam. The PWD cleared the landslide using a JCB and normalised the traffic on Friday.
