PANJIM: While the most celebrated festival Ganesh Chaturthi that began last Friday accompanied by heavy rain, the Goa weather bureau has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places till August 30.
The rains will continue thereafter with the bulletin of Goa Meteorological Centre stating that rain and/or thundershowers are likely at most places over the State till September 3.
The monsoon was active in the State on Sunday wherein Canacona and Dabolim received heavy rainfall of 7 cms each. The weather report further stated that Mormugao received 6 cms rainfall, while Pernem, Panjim and Sanguem recorded 4 cms each; Mapusa and Ponda 3 cms each; and Old Goa, Sanquelim and Quepem received 2 cms each rainfall.
