From The Editor
Your newspaper, Goa’s voice has built itself on the foundation of its shared history with the people of Goa. And even as it does so, its desire to innovate, tweak and improve its product offering to its readers is a relentless pursuit.
This is a time when media doesn’t appear to be media unless its ‘social’ and ‘digital’. Ironically, it is also because of this that the space to pause, introspect and do stories which are a product of old fashioned reportage, is also increasing.
Who says ‘print is dying’? Journalism, we forget, is about narratives and not just about reporting events in a one dimensional manner. It’s about perspectives, it’s about interpretation and analysis and it’s about making sense of news. Which is why we have decided to infuse an insightful zing to each alternate Saturday, starting tomorrow, April 21, with a new offering, a 32 to 40 page magazine in a format which is slightly larger than a tabloid and smaller than a Berliner. Simply called The Fortnight, this little almanac of ground level reportage, investigations and follow ups, will also incorporate the Herald Review which used to appear each Sunday.
This note is a heads up that you will find The Fortnight, as a pull out with tomorrow’s paper and then on each alternate Saturday. We assure you that the content in The Fortnight, will remain fresh and relevant across two weeks till the next issue is ready.
We hope you enjoy this reflective kind of journalism, which puts current events into perspective, working on Herald’s core strengths of being INDEPTH, INCISIVE & INSIGHTFUL.
