PONDA: All Hindu organisations, under the banner of National Hindu Movement (NHM), on Sunday demanded that the Central and Goa governments should lift the ban imposed by the Goa BJP government on Pramod Muthalik, the founder of Sri Ram Sene (SRS).
The NHM made the demand during the demonstration at the old bus stand Ponda. Various organisations like Shiv Sena, Mayem Gram Raksha Dal, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), Sanatan Sanstha, Ranaragini and others participated in the demonstration.
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s Goa State Co-ordinator Dr Manoj Solanki explained the objective of holding the demonstration.
Denouncing the ban as “unconstitutional” the NHM demanded that the State government lift the ban on the SRS.
In order to prevent cases of ‘Love Jihad’ the NHM demanded that a strict law should be enacted in the country. In cases of love jihad, if victimised woman from a non-Muslim community gets married, she should be granted divorce immediately if she wishes so, demanded the NHM.
In the case of such divorce, victimised woman should be entitled to half the property of the Muslim and his relatives. Since Hindu girls are falling victims regularly to love jihad, they should be provided with special protection.
Special measures demanded in love jihad cases
Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS) has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to end the problem of love jihad by adopting various measures at all India level. The samiti, in its memorandum to the prime minister, cited the recent case of Tara Sahadev who after marriage was allegedly forced to convert to Islam. ‘This problem has assumed disastrous proportion in the entire nation, and several thousand cases of such type have already occurred and are still occurring in the states of Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, etc,’ states the memorandum. The HJS has demanded a special branch of the police personnel to handle cases of love jihad and to investigate them at national and state level and special protection to Hindu girls falling victims to love jihad.
