PONDA: The Collem police arrested Nasir Irfan, 41, originally from Haliyal, Karnataka and residing at Chimbel for breaking into four shops at Collem market. The accused had broken into four shops by removing roof tiles but had stolen Rs 25,000 from only a liquor shop.
Police say that the accused is a history-sheeter and was earlier arrested by the Fatorda, Valpoi, Cuncolim, Ponda and Canacona police for various thefts.

As per Collem police, an anonymous person had broken into four shops on the night of December 15, but stole only from one. They were looking out for him based on the CCTV footage which is when Fatorda police arrested the respective person in connection with another theft.
Collem police arrested him after he was released on bail and the accused has confessed to committing the crime. Collem PSI Ajay Dhuri is further investigating the case under the guidance of PI Sanjiv Dalvi.
