CALANGUTE: Anwar Hussain, 31, a resident of Socorro, was arrested by Saligao police on Thursday for allegedly committing theft of cash and a mobile phone from a petrol pump at Saligao, recently.
Saligao police said, “Francis Andrade, the manager of a petrol pump at Saligao, had lodged a complaint stating that on December 20, between 3 am and 3.30 am, an unknown person had broken the latch of a window and entered the office of the pump and committed theft of cash and a mobile phone, all worth Rs 31,500.

Saligao police had registered an offence under Sections 457 and 380 IPC, and following investigations, arrested the accused, Anwar Hussain, who has confessed to the crime. The stolen mobile phone has been recovered from his possession.
He has been remanded to four days in police custody for further investigations.
