Hoble asked to pay fine imposed by NGT

PANJIM: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) on Tuesday directed BJP Vice President Anil Hoble to pay the fine of Rs 20 lakh imposed on him by National Green Tribunal (NGT), within the next three days.

On May 29, NGT had directed him to pay a fine of Rs 20 lakh within six weeks for destroying mangroves and for illegal land filling in violation of environment laws. It had also ordered the demolition of his illegal structures – bar and restaurant – along the Ribandar road, for violating various provisions of the environment law.
“The failure to pay the fine, forced GCZMA to issue notice directing Hoble to pay the fine,” sources said.
Hoble had petitioned the Bombay High Court seeking a stay of the NGT order which was dismissed after which he filed two petitions before the Supreme Court which also came to be dismissed as withdrawn
