CURCHOREM: Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) has started home delivery of essential commodities since Sunday. The items are delivered through volunteers including councillors.
Chairman Balkrishna (Pinty) Hodarkar said that they have made two separate packets one for grocery items costing Rs 600, and the other for vegetables costing Rs 200. The items will be supplied as per their availability.
“We included 5 kg rice, oil, flour, and lentils in one packet which will cost Rs 600; vegetables like cauliflower, potatoes, chillies and cabbage including onion and tomatoes will be packed in vegetable packets costing Rs 200,” Hodarkar said and informed that their vehicles carrying the items would go in every wards.
Meanwhile, the market remained totally closed except medical stores and petrol pumps. There were not many people seen on road on Sunday as Curchorem police were patrolling and all the entry points of the market were barricaded.
According to police as of now no Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was deployed at Curchorem.
