PANJIM: A Home Guard volunteer has lodged a complaint of assault against police constable Anjesh Parab. The complainant, Nilesh Sawant, posted on traffic duty at NIO Circle, was allegedly slapped and abused for using a toilet at the police outpost in Dona Paula.
In his complaint to Panjim police, Sawant said he used the toilet facility at the outpost, which angered Parab, who locked the former inside for about 15 minutes.
“While unlocking the door, I found that the door was locked by someone from outside. After banging on the door for 15 minutes, Parab who is posted at SIT, Dona Paula opened the door and started abusing me, saying a Home Guard doesn’t have a right to use toilet facilities of Dona Paula out post,” he said. The constable, Sawant alleged, also slapped him on his face, and incident witnessed by a head constable on duty.
Panjim police have registered a non-cognisable offence even as the department is contemplating disciplinary action against him.
