Homerun for BJP in Gujarat, Congress leads in Himachal Pradesh

BJP inches it’s towards the win with 149 seats in the 182-member House. The Congress party is at 19 and AAP at 9 seats. The average voter turnout for Gujarat’s 182 seats across the 33 districts was 64.33 per cent. The voting for Gujarat Assembly Election 2022 was held in two phases. The counting of votes for the high-stakes Gujarat assembly election began at 8 am on December 8, 2022, with high-security enforcement at 37 centres in the presence of the Election Commission of India (ECI)-appointed observers. 

Gujarat has been led by the BJP for 27 years, and the party is looking to maintain its winning streak for the seventh term and a victory in Gujarat will make it the only party other than the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to have won seven continuous Assembly elections. 

Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh, Congress has crossed the majority mark. It is a close competition between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. While the Congress is leading with 37 seats, the BJP is leading with 28 seats.    Independent candidates, meanwhile, are leading with 5 seats. The average voter turnout for Himachal Pradesh’s 68-member house was 76.44 per cent.
