Honour, respect Florian, demands ST Association

MARGAO: The South Goa Scheduled Tribes Association (SGSTA) has requested the Konkani Bhasha Mandal to press and demand for respect and honour for Florian Vaz, the martyr of the official language status agitation.

MARGAO: The South Goa Scheduled Tribes Association (SGSTA) has requested the Konkani Bhasha Mandal to press and demand for respect and honour for Florian Vaz, the martyr of the official language status agitation. 
The Konkani Bhasha Mandal on August 15 garlanded the bust of Florian Vaz and has started awareness against the resolution seeking official language status for Marathi. The bust of Florian was installed following several demands from the Scheduled Tribes of Margao and Fatorda. 
Addressing a press conference in Margao, Camilo Barretto, President of SGSTA said, “After 30 years, KBM has remembered the martyr of martyr of the official language status agitation and I would like to congratulate it.” 
“The bust of late Florian Vaz was installed by us in the past and KBM has given due respect to him. I welcome the move. However, I would also like to highlight that today the family of Florian Vaz has no job and I request KBM to take it up to the government and give them at least one job,” Camilo requested. 
“I also request the govt to give them at least one job which is must for their survival,” said Camilo. 
“Florian’s sacrifice needs to remembered,” Camilo requested.
