Hospicio wall collapses

MARGAO: The retaining wall of Hospicio hospital came crashing down late Friday evening, disrupting vehicular traffic for some time. The incident is believed to have occurred at around 10.30 pm when the wall on the side of the hospital pharmacy gave way following incessant rains throughout the day.

Vehicular traffic heading to the hospital and Pajifond was disrupted for some time before the fire services rushed and cleared the debris from the main road.
Hospicio medical superintendent, Dr Siona Gomes, who rushed to the hospital after the incident, told Herald that the debris was removed and the road cleared. She said that around 4-5 meters of the wall had collapsed, adding that the PWD will be told to take steps to re-build it on a priority basis.
Fire brigade sources said they rushed to the hospital after receiving a call at 10.30 pm and cleared the road.
