House wall collapses, 60-yr-old woman buried alive at Guirdolim

MARGAO, JULY 2
In a tragic incident, a 60-year-old woman from Guirdolim was buried alive when her old house wall collapsed on Friday morning.
The incident occurred at 10 am when the woman Romaldina Gonsalves was standing outside her old mud house when the wall suddenly collapsed burying her under the debris. The woman was rushed to the Primary Health Centre, Curtorim but was declared dead.
Incidentally, the old house of the deceased woman is located barely a few meters away from the new house built by the family.
It is learnt that the deceased was buried inside the debris and locals later lend their helping hand to clear the debris and remove her out.
Salcete Mamlatdar Paresh Faldessai who visited the spot later in the day said the district administration will provide compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the kin of the deceased woman.
The Maina Curtorim police has registered a case of unnatural death. Further investigations are on.
