After the inspection, wherein both the TCP and the Panchayat officials measured the road width, a TCP representative Srinivas Naik told the media that the existing road is not even four meters in breadth. “At one place, the road leading to the project was around 3.30 meters, at another place 3.20 mt while it was around 3 meters at another place,” he said, while adding that he would submit a detailed report to the TCP officials for necessary action.
Varca Sarpanch Simon Fernandes said that the Panchayat will take action, if any, against the project only after receiving a report from the TCP. “The Panchayat must have given license for the project based on the TCP approval. If the TCP now takes a decision, we will take action as per the TCP decision,” the Sarpanch said.
A local resident Domingos Furtado demanded to know how the Panchayat had granted permissions to the residential housing project without the mandatory road width.
