PANJIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has sought a detailed report from the North Goa Police and Deputy Collector (Sattari) in connection with a complaint of violation of human rights of Melauli tribals during the protest against the proposed IIT project.
The notices issued to the Superintendent of Police (North), Valpoi Police Inspector and Deputy Collector (Sattari) on Wednesday, are based on a plea filed by activist Rajan Ghate alleging stomping on women by the police.

Ghate has also demanded appointment of an inquiry committee, halting the process of demarcation of the area for setting up the IIT project and allowing Class I ownership to all the farmers cultivating the land for several decades.
The State government is facing criticism from across various sections for using police force to deter the locals from protesting at the protesting site.
At the same time, it is also come under the pressure to withdraw FIR registered against the locals for attempted murder and other serious sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Damage to the Public Property Act.
