PONDA: The new academic year of Goa`s first and only homoeopathic college, Shri Kamaxidevi Homoeopathic Medical College of Shivgram Society at Shiroda will soon start classes after all obstacles at government and university level were cleared.
Students who have been waiting for some time are happy that the institution is now ready for new admissions.
The college was established at Shivshail plateau at Shiroda in 1998 and has 50 seats.
So far 700 homeopathic doctors have passed out from the college, who have either set up their own practice or have joined hospitals.
Homeopathic college is one among the several educational institutions owned and managed by Shivgram Society at Shiroda.
The Chairman of Shivgram Education Society (SES), Subhash Shirodkar has served as minister for the government of Goa and is the founder-member of SES, which has helped hundreds of students.
It may be noted that only few states like Kerala, Calcutta and Tamil Nadu were popular for providing education in homeopathy.
Shirodakar, who is the current Shiroda MLA, emphasised the need for highly-qualified faculty to maintain better standard of the institution.
The college boasts of good infrastructure and is attached with hospital for clinical training.
