PANJIM: Speaking for the first time since the panel for the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) elections was announced by Panjim BJP MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate, Revenue Minister Jennifer Monserrate expressed confidence that her and Babush’s son Rohit will be up to the task, given the civic polls marks his entry into the mainstream political arena.
Responding to queries from the media persons about Rohit contesting elections, Jennifer said, “Well, this is his first election and I would like to wish him all the best and hope he does well. Since it is his first time, he also has a lot to learn, which I am sure in due course of time with the help of the panel. If he (Rohit) needs any help, we are always there, I am there, Babush is there. ”
When asked about the decision to promote the younger generation in the panel including the likes of Rohit, the Taleigao BJP MLA said, “There are a lot of young faces, who know each other and I think they will work together.”
On a query regarding who will be leading the panel, she replied saying, like Babush said earlier the party (BJP) will take a decision on whom to make mayor or deputy mayor.
