SATTARI: The Guleli Panchayat on Tuesday rejected the no objection certificate (NOC) for the construction of a compound wall on the proposed IIT project land.
Shel Melauli villagers held a silent protest in front of the panchayat premises against the proposed IIT project.
During a special meeting, all seven panchas held a discussion on the IIT project issue and unanimously rejected the demarcation tender work and NOC for the construction of the compound wall.
“The IIT Goa has submitted a file to the panchayat for permission to construct the compound wall on the proposed IIT project land. The panchayat rejected the proposal while taking into consideration the opinion of all the seven panchas,” informed sarpanch Apurva Chari.
“Our panchayat has rejected the NOC for the compound wall on the proposed IIT project land. We welcome the decision of the panchayat,” said Shashikant Sawardekar, a villager.
