The Bardez Taluka Civil Supplies Office conducted a raid on a shop in Baga for allegedly storing and selling petrol illegally, officials said on Thursday.
The operation was carried out by a five-member enforcement team led by Assistant Director Deepa Fulari following a tip-off about unauthorised fuel storage at the premises.

During the inspection, officials seized a large plastic container holding around 20 to 23 litres of petrol along with 15 one-litre plastic bottles filled with fuel. The fuel was allegedly being stored and sold without the required authorisation, posing potential safety risks.
Authorities said the seized fuel has been taken into custody as part of the investigation. Officials have also initiated the process of registering a First Information Report (FIR) against the shop owner for the alleged violations.
The Civil Supplies Department said action was taken based on credible information and that further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the illegal fuel trade. Officials also indicated that similar enforcement drives will continue across the region to curb the unauthorised storage and sale of petroleum products.
The department has urged the public to report any suspected illegal fuel storage or sale to help ensure public safety and compliance with the law.
