DRAMAPUR: Sirlim-Dramapur panchayat on Wednesday inspected the site of an alleged illegal scrap yard operating near the Bondorim bus stop in Dramapur.
The site inspection was conducted by sarpanch Sanjana Chari in the presence of the panchayat secretary Mohan Gaonkar, ward panch Netty Ferrao, complainant Allwin Alphonso, respondent Salim Ismael Shaikh and Kalimuddin Shaikh and the residents of Bondorim, Sirlim-Band and Admorod wards of Dramapur.
The sarpanch said, “The panchayat conducted the site inspection and directed the respondent to remove the vehicles from the premises. However, he has sought time to do so and requested for two months so we granted him time till September 14.”
The earlier site inspection scheduled on July 5 could not be held as the sarpanch failed to issue a notice to the scrap yard owner regarding the proposed inspection claiming that she was unaware of the respondent’s name.
