PANJIM: A delegation of Indian Medical Association Goa State held a meeting with Government of Goa Health Secretary Rajshekhar, at Health Secretary’s office, recently.
President IMA Goa State Dr Rufino Monteiro, Secretary Dr Amol Tilve, Treasurer Dr Dayanand Naiyan, along with past president Dr Shekhar Salkar met the Health Secretary and appraised him of the issues raised by the IMA Goa.
Additional Secretary Vikas Gaunekar was also present. The Health Secretary was presented with a memorandum enlisting all the issues raised by IMA Goa namely charges for biomedical waste disposal, doctors safety and proposed amendment to Goa Medicare Act, proposed amendments to Clinical Establishment Act.
The Health Secretary after a patient hearing agreed to address all the issues at the joint meeting of all stakeholders called by Chief Secretary on April 22.
The delegation also met Education Secretary Ravi Dhavan over the derogatory remarks made on the doctors in NCERT books in the schools.
Later, the IMA State officials held a meeting with Secretary of Science and Technology Dr Tariq Thomas on the issues of biomedical waste disposal charges.
The delegation will be also meeting Minister for Waste Management Atanasio Monserrate to apprise him of the problems faced by the doctor community.
