PANJIM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued three-days orange alert for Goa till July 21, owing to the possibility of heavy rainfall and strong winds over the State.
On Tuesday, heavy to very heavy showers lashed Goa with several places reporting flood-like situation. Till 8 am, State had received around 42mm of rainfall.
The fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea during this period due to very rough conditions.
“Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area has formed over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand. The western end of the monsoon trough runs near its normal position and the eastern end runs south of its normal position,” the IMD said.
