The fishermen are asked not to venture into the sea during the week.

PANJIM: After weak monsoon conditions, the rainfall activities are likely to pick up in Goa as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange colour warning for August 5-6 for the coastal State.

IMD Goa in charge Rahul M said that the monsoon currents have been below normal since July 18 and the conditions are likely to be better from this week.

The very first month of the monsoon season, June ended with a nine per cent deficit of rains. A total of 75.6mm (2.97 inches) of rainfall was recorded for the month.

On the other hand, July recorded a nine per cent surplus rain, which is around 1171 mm (46.10 inches). August, so far has recorded only 13.1mm of rainfall.

The state’s seasonal rainfall, as of date, has been below normal by 1.4 per cent.
